Building
Skills That
Last a Lifetime.

Orangebox Training Solutions were delighted to welcome the latest cohort of graduates from the Equans UK & Ireland Graduate Programme to our Hartlepool Marina headquarters for an engaging and impactful two day workshop. The two groups, made up of early career professionals from across the UK, including attendees who travelled from as far afield as Folkestone and Glasgow, joined us as part of their wider two-year graduate development journey with Equans and Bouygues UK.

The sessions were formed to be part of a broader leadership development and personal growth pathway. Our goal at Orangebox was to deliver a hands on experience that moved away from traditional PowerPoint-led sessions and instead focused on practical application, confidence-building, and real world presentation skills. The training course “Dynamic Deliveries,” was led by our CEO, Simon Corbett, and supported by long time lead trainer Michael Glenn, who has built a trusted relationship with Equans over four years of collaboration.

Eye Contact, Body Language, and Bold Delivery.

From the moment the session began, the energy in the room was positive and engaged. The course was carefully designed to be interactive and inclusive, creating a safe and empowering environment where graduates could push themselves outside their comfort zones. Rather than simply sitting through slides, participants were given a number of practical tasks to complete throughout the two days. These tasks helped them learn to communicate clearly, present confidently, and handle the pressure of speaking in front of others.

One of the unique elements of the training involved each graduate receiving a number, with the graduates randomly selected by their peers. After one person completed their presentation, they would select the next number, keeping the pace lively and the room fully engaged. This spontaneity added a fun and dynamic edge, encouraging everyone to stay alert and involved.

The presentation challenges varied in length and style. Some were as short as 30 seconds and designed around simple, everyday topics. One particularly memorable moment saw a graduate teach the group how to shoot a basketball, an exercise that brought laughter and connection to the room while reinforcing key principles around clarity, confidence, and connection with the audience. These moments helped shift the focus away from formal structure and instead centred on authenticity, body language, eye contact, and calm delivery.

Progress
in Every Presentation.

It was evident that as the course progressed, the graduates began to truly grow into the process. Early nerves gradually gave way to self-assurance. Presentations became more fluent and natural. Most importantly, the group began to genuinely support and uplift one another. Every time a graduate stepped forward to speak, they were met with applause and encouragement from their peers. The group dynamic strengthened by the hour, and what started as a room of individuals became a cohesive team.

There were also deeply personal and reflective moments. Some graduates used their presentation time to share stories from their own lives, insights and experiences that spoke volumes about their character and emotional intelligence. That willingness to be open showed just how safe and supportive the environment had become, and how valuable these types of sessions are for building trust among new colleagues.

The graduates have also been able to review their performances through one to one coaching, using the video footage from the presentations, to create personal development plans for how they might improve their unique delivery style.

The course was designed to be intensive but enjoyable, with the first day alone involving four distinct presentation tasks. This fast-paced, immersive approach ensured that everyone stayed engaged while also learning through doing. By the end of the two days, every graduate had stood at the front of the room, delivered a total of six presentations, received both feedback and praise from the facilitators and their peers.

Shaping
Voices, Building Futures.

This programme also served as another chapter in the growing partnership between Orangebox and Equans. Michael Glenn’s longstanding relationship with the organisation brought familiarity and trust into the room from the outset. Both he and Simon were inspired by the graduates’ willingness to embrace the challenges and take ownership of their personal development.

Ultimately, the “Dynamic Deliveries” workshop was about much more than just learning how to present. It was about helping these young professionals find their voice, connect with their peers, and begin shaping the leadership identity they’ll carry forward in their careers. For Equans, this is part of an ongoing investment in their future leaders, and for us at Orangebox, it’s a privilege to be part of that journey.

We’re proud to continue supporting Equans and their graduate programme, and we look forward to seeing how these future leaders apply what they’ve learned as they progress in their roles.
